Diesel Emissions Systems

Diesel emissions have become a major focus for all vehicle manufacturers. To meet strict environmental standards, modern diesel engines are equipped with advanced emissions systems such as EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), and SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction).

A key component of the SCR system is DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid), also known as AdBlue. DEF is injected into the exhaust stream to chemically reduce harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx), converting them into harmless nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor. The DPF system also superheats to burn off combustion soot, further reducing particulate emissions.

Thanks to these technologies, today’s diesel engines can emit fewer pollutants than gasoline engines. However, these systems require regular maintenance to stay effective and avoid costly repairs.
